Public Site and Partner Extranet Implementation at a global Fortune 500 engineering corporation

As part of this engagement, XTIVIA helped a global engineering corporation with an end-to-end Liferay based implementation of a public software download center and a partner extranet for its multi-billion dollar “Smart Buildings” business unit. Both these sites heavily leverage search—in fact, the software download center does not offer any browse capability, and its entire UI is search driven. As such, the client that was striving to build a modern, responsive User Experience (UX) was passionate that the search performance needed to meet 1-2 second response times. XTIVIA helped the customer implement an AWS based Apache SolrCloud with Zookeeper so that the search infrastructure was robust enough to handle the search load. Despite Solr performance being sub-second, the out-of-the-box Liferay search performance did not measure up to expectations, and XTIVIA leveraged its search plugins to jumpstart the kind of performance that the customer was looking for. Additionally, given the customer desire for a custom UI layout and a continuous search results scroll feature, we implemented a custom search portlet that highly leveraged the standard XTIVIA search innovation.
