Key Features

Z

Virtual Warehouse

This is Snowflake’s compute which is a cluster of nodes used to process the workloads. Different compute nodes can work on diverse workloads in parallel dramatically reducing the need to share the resources. Snowflake provides the flexibility to scale up/down or in/out the compute depending on the workload needs and automatically shut-down when not in use.
Z

CDP (Continuous Data Protection)

Snowflake protects the data against intentional or unintentional data modification or corruption by maintaining historical data changes using Time-travel and fail-safe features. We can also query the data that has been updated or deleted in the past and restore objects that have been dropped for up to 90 days back. In addition to this, Snowflake provides other features such as role-based access, network policies, and data encryption to protect your data.
Z

Multiple Data Loading Options

As of today, Snowflake provides data loading from on-premise, Azure, AWS, and Google Cloud platforms in multiple file formats (delimited text files, JSON, XML, AVRO, ORC, Parquet). Snowflake automatically compresses files to gzip format before loading and it supports loading from other compressed files such as bzip2, deflate, raw_deflate). It also supports loading encrypted files for enhanced security and automatically encrypts files staged in snowflake’s internal stage. Data can be loaded in bulk using the COPY command or in micro-matches using Snowpipe.
Z

Designed for Cloud

Snowflake provides the performance, scalability, and efficiency expected from a Cloud DWaaS without compromising on security. Some of the Snowflake security features include controlling access through Network Policies, RBAC (Role-based Access), DAC (Discretionary Access Control), and Data Encryption. It supports regulatory standards such as HIPAA, and PCI-DSS. It meets NIST 800-53 security requirements.
Z

Data Exchange

Snowflake allows you to create your own data hub, a private data exchange, to share data with internal and external users. This is built on top of Snowflake’s Data Sharing technology which enables us to share live data without the need to copy or move data across the network.
Z

Connectivity and Integration

Snowflake provides connectivity to multiple platforms and it is ANSI SQL compliant which makes it easy to migrate to Snowflake quickly and integrate heterogeneous platforms. As of today, it’s programmatic language support includes JDBC, ODBC, .NET, Node.js, Python, SQLAlchemy, and Go.
Z

Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery

Snowflake allows account migration and data replication across cloud platforms and regions. This provides unmatched database failover and failback capability allowing users to query the data during an outage.

XTIVIA and Snowflake

While Snowflake provides businesses the environment to run big data operations, XTIVIA works as a partner for streamlined implementation and integration. Instead of delegating an entire IT team to manage your data migration, XTIVIA partners with you to build a strategic implementation plan to execute your migration without disruption. Our team will help you designate resources, identify connectivity points, and define the parameters of your solution to meet your needs and avoid downtime.
