Delivering help for children and young people across the United States who face a wide range of emotional, mental, and behavioral problems. Challenge

When migrating large volumes of data from Liferay DXP 7.2 to 7.4, XTIVIA faced the challenge of merging both sites’ designs into a single cohesive site. The client expected the new software version to ensure seamless access to all modules.
The company needed to perform web testing to ensure that all business-level functionalities from the previous version remained operational in the new version.

Here are a few key considerations the client required from a QA Testing partner and why they chose XTIVIA:

  • Conducting thorough and timely testing while adapting to frequent changes
  • The need to perform testing across multiple browser versions, including Microsoft Edge, Safari, and Google Chrome.
  • The applications include various user roles, such as Program Lead, Supervisor, and Specialist, each with specific permissions. These roles allow users to create, edit, and transfer youth and staff while adhering to security restrictions that limit access to their respective operational data.
  • Quality assurance processes and comprehensive testing are integral throughout the development and evolution cycle.
The client employed the XTIVIA QA Testing team after the project lifecycle had already started. From their experience, the XTIVIA QA Testing team knew adaptability and flexibility would be essential for meeting the final deadline.

Technical Solution

Working within the Scrum framework and following two-week iterations, XTIVIA’s testing specialists conducted functional, integration, and regression testing after each new feature was developed. This process included cross-browser testing on Microsoft Edge, Safari, and Google Chrome. Although the team joined late in the project lifecycle, it maintained a strong understanding of the legacy application workflows with minimal support, ensuring seamless functionality.

With limited access privileges to the legacy application, the testing team successfully:

  • Identified dependencies on various internal system requirements.
  • Developed detailed testing artifacts to ensure complete coverage of all functionalities.
  • Defined the regression test suite to be executed with each introduction of new features.
  • Verified the application’s compatibility across multiple browsers and devices.
  • Created a deployment checklist and test scenarios covering all modules.

BUSINESS RESULT

XTIVIA developed comprehensive test suites that covered functional, usability, and migration testing to ensure the application met the highest quality standards.

XTIVIA’s expert QA Testing team played a pivotal role in validating data flow reliability, ensuring robust functionality, optimizing performance, and confirming cross-browser compatibility across popular platforms, within timeline parameters. These rigorous testing efforts were instrumental in driving the application’s widespread adoption and ensuring its success among the client’s diverse end customers.
