A global pizza restaurant and delivery chain had built an intranet and franchisee portal on Liferay but was facing significant user dissatisfaction with the out-of-the-box Liferay search functionality. They discussed their issues with XTIVIA and we proposed leveraging our search innovations to significantly enhance the user experience with search, both from a performance and an efficacy perspective. We deployed our search plugins and were able to improve performance from 12-18s to the 1-3s range – an improvement of 600%-1,200%.

Additionally, the users were able to get to relevant results much more quickly with the most relevant results bubbling up to the top of the list. As part of this engagement, we helped a global pizza restaurant and delivery chain speed up their out-of-the-box Liferay search performance by 800% while significantly improving the relevance of the search results by leveraging a proprietary custom XTIVIA Liferay Solr plugin and search portlet hook. Additionally, we enabled a continuous scroll feature that allows the user to load additional results as needed. Our systems engineering team also set up Solr Cloud and tuned Solr to ensure optimal Solr performance.
