UI Extensions – Easy custom fields!
Lately, I’ve been looking at UI Extensions in the Xurrent solution. These make it very easy to create custom fields in multiple objects. In the past, you needed to do this through HTML – and you can still do that if you want. But in 2024 Xurrent introduced a Designer so now it’s just point and click and Poof! You have a field.
The versatility is impressive. You can apply UI Extensions to a massive variety of objects and record types. (Deep breath…)!
| Category | Supported Objects & Templates |
| Workflow Records | Request, KB, Problem, Release, Workflow, & Task Templates |
| Project Management | Project & Project Task Templates |
| Resources | Service, Service Instance, Product, & Product Category |
| People & Org | Organization, Team, Person, Site, & SCIM User |
| Other | Contracts, Custom Collections, App Offerings, & Shop Articles |
Setting one up is straightforward:
- Navigate to Settings > UI Extensions.
- Click the “Add” button.
- Design your fields using the Designer.
- Save and Activate.
Once activated, your new fields are ready for use in their associated records.
For the video demo today, I’m going to create a Knowledge Base Template UI Extension. See this link:
